“In just 15 years she’d grown a successful business.”
That sentence from Jay Shetty’s book, Think Like a Monk immediately resonated with me. He speaks truth.
Despite all the hype on social media and elsewhere, the get rich quick schemes are just as mis-leading as any other time in history.
That’s not to say that the people offering programs haven’t found success, but they’ve either forgotten or chosen to put aside all the skills and knowledge they’ve picked up along the way.
Driving home the other night, I was struck by the beauty of snow laced trees and the emptiness of the highway. The first a normal winter scene and the second, not.
10 months into the pandemic normal and abnormal continue to weave through our lives.
Separately, they each give rise to similar circumstances but different feelings. Gently falling snow, accumulating on the spruce trees to paint a beautiful picture. Quiet, still, solitary.
The empty highway, devoid of other vehicles, no tracks to…
What will you do to make 2021 a year to remember?
I asked myself that question this past week and source answered loud and clear.
Not just New Year’s but every chance that comes around, because when you do, even more of the good stuff appears.
That’s when I realized just how many opportunities I’d let slide by in 2020. And what a shame, because despite the pandemic, there have been many good and some truly great, things to celebrate.
I do have to admit that I kind of suck at it…
Not to be Captain Obvious, but this year hasn't gone quite the way I thought it would. I know I'm not alone in that.
I certainly didn't see myself putting the speaking part of my business on hold and diving head first into expanding my mentoring/coaching to be the main thrust of my business.
Nor did I envision ending a relationship and moving into a new community.
And I for sure didn't expect that by doing so I'd be planning a future event that could go on to make massive impact for potent…
I think it's safe to say that 2020 has been a year with a lot of fear and not a lot of thoughts about possibility. Mostly we've just been trying to cope with the changes and pivot to what needed to come next.
But, 2020 is almost done and with vaccinations beginning, we can begin to think about our futures again. How does that make you feel, excited, uncertain or maybe even fearful?
This time period that we're in just now could best be called transition and it's not the easiest place to be, be…
Accepting what is, and not what you wish it were, is an integral step to creating the life you want.
The work of author Byron Katie teaches us to “love what is”. She uses four questions to prompt us. They assist the reader to get to the heart of the beliefs of what will make us happy. Much of it revolves on our perceptions of what others, or situations, must do or be for us to be happy.
It is a bit of a shock when we review how much we want other people to fall into line. Our checklists of sho…
2020 the year of great promise. Anticipated, optimistically excited. Right?
The universe laughed and said “Hey I’ll deliver on what you asked for, no problem.” And the ask, came from 2019 and the buzz word was “Disrupt”.
Regardless of the sector – corporate or non-profit the word of the year was “Disrupt”. Conferences, summits, meetings of all types – disrupt, disrupt, disrupt . Heck, I spoke at an event – Disrupt the Conversation.
And when I think of what we put out collectively, …
One of the biggest life lessons for most of us, is how to exercise our gratitude muscle.
It's the means of feeling on a daily basis, good about your life, even when things are tough. Maybe, especially useful, when life is tough. We all have pivotal moments in our lives, the older we get, the more we have. One of mine falls on February 1st, 2012.
That date, that year is etched in my mind because it began the chapter of my life where chronic pain started. A journey which would be the catalyst fo…
Do you have a role in synchronicity? Well at first, it wouldn't seem so. Isn't synchronicity all about random events that just...happen? Like the call you receive from a friend you have been thinking about? Or the subject of a blog post that then seems to show up in conversations or books or a movie?
It's hardly as if you have any control, or at least not a conscious one. Here's the thing though, you do.
Where you put your thoughts, is where your attention and your energy flow.
Take for inst…
One of the hardest parts of any change is making peace with traditions.
Traditions are a wonderful way to mark the various holidays and occasions. But often, people forget that as their lives change, it's reasonable to expect the traditions will too.
Traditions are only good so long as they serve the needs of the people participating in them. Holding on to a way of doing something, because that's the way they've always been done, causes emotional pain when things are changing.
